Dr. Jacob Ballon is Director of the INSPIRE Clinic at Stanford that focuses on treating people with psychotic disorders and those at risk. The clinic is part of the Stanford Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Ballon will speak about the clinic; treatment options, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy; psychopharmacology; psychosocial consultation; ongoing/future research, as well as collaboration with other medical specialties to help advance care for the whole person beyond treating psychiatric symptoms only. He is particularly interested in identifying those who may be at risk for mental illness during adolescence and those who cope with chronic mental illness. Dr. Ballon did undergraduate work at UCLA and attended Medical School at UC San Diego followed by graduate work in Public Health and Policy Management at Columbia University. Tracy Chesler, Clinical Social Worker, works closely with Dr. Ballon and will talk about psychosocial aspects of care. Both talks will be followed by a Q&A.
