Karen Deloumi joined the NAMI Santa Clara board in late 2019. Karen has been interested in the mental health services including health, financial implications, gaps and unmet needs within the Santa Clara county community since 2014. During this time, NAMI has proven to be an important resource. Prior, Karen was a board member at Foothill Community Health center in San Jose, involved in a large expansion over the course of 8 years. Karen advocated for increased access to care, leveraging next generation electronic tools, supporting business goals, quality standards, increasing clinic efficiencies, stronger IT risk standards and security. Karen has over 18 years of business leadership, process, project management, consulting and technical experience gained while working for large enterprise and small corporations. She has a B.S. degree in Business with a focus on management information systems. Karen has diverse industry experience in healthcare and related processes including her involvement in a healthcare technology start-up. Karen has lived in Santa Clara County with her family since the early 1980’s and enjoys the great outdoors, art, gardening, process improvement and problem solving. Karen understands the complexities of healthcare delivery and the personal, economic and financial importance provided by affordable, easy access to high quality healthcare at the time it is needed. Karen also understands that mental health services is unlike non-mental healthcare and often misunderstood, with barriers due to social, economic and knowledge share.
