Navah Statman has been a member of NAMI-Santa Clara County since 1990. She volunteered with NAMI in several capacities and served as president of our affiliate from 2002 to 2006, and again in 2015. Navah’s chief interest is anything that helps to provide early access to mental health care as well as anything that will improve the quality of life of people living with mental illness. Navah and her husband joined NAMI after their daughter was stricken by mental illness.

Navah served on the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Board for ten years, and also chaired the board. She also served on the Perma Housing Board (now a part of Momentum). Navah worked with the County’s TAY group and helped write grants for them. She worked diligently to spread the word about MHSA. She served on the NAMI CA Board of Directors in 2012 and 2013.

Navah holds an MLS degree from Columbia University (1975) and an MBA from Santa Clara University (1984). She completed her undergraduate work in Israel and holds a BA degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and University of Haifa (1973). Navah worked as a program manager and a manager for Amdahl Corporation and Sun Microsystems. She also worked in various academic and university libraries. When she is not busy with mental health and NAMI activities, she likes to relax with a nice book.
