Mrs. Bibo in her class room

Dear NAMI-Santa Clara County Community,

You are not alone!

These are the most powerful words one can hear in a crisis. They are especially important to children, who today navigate some of the most challenging waters when it comes to maintaining positive mental health.

That’s why it is such an honor to introduce you to Stacey Bibo and San Jose’s Price Middle School, who have raised over $40,000 for NAMI-Santa Clara County since 2020.

Mrs. Bibo has long recognized the importance of mental health for her students. At Price Middle School, she developed a customized mental health curriculum for all grade levels, including NAMI’s Ending the Silence presentation, which offers tips on how to identify signs and symptoms of mental health conditions. It’s all part of creating a safe space for learning, helping students build confidence to have conversations about mental health—and ask for help when they need it.

Price Middle School’s commitment is embodied in the their annual fundraiser, Price Walks for Mental Health, where students and staff work as a team to support NAMIWalks Silicon Valley. This year, “Team Price Middle School” was a Top 5 fundraiser, raising over $12,000 for our mission!

In February, the NAMI-SCC Board of Directors honored Mrs. Bibo and Price Middle School with the Community Merit Award for their outstanding work and leadership. This year, thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to expand programs like Ending the Silence, ensuring that people of all ages can access the full range of locally available mental health programs, support groups, and resources offered by NAMI-SCC, which are completely free of charge.

Your support has a profound impact. Together, let’s reach out a hand to those in crisis and remind them: You are not alone!

“Stacey Bibo’s ceaseless campaign against ending the silence and stigma around mental health issues has not only changed the climate of our school, but the climate of our whole community is more caring, more supportive, and much more informed. In partnership with NAMI, Stacey has brought awareness to our students, their families, and the greater community through her advocacy.”

Margaret Lavin
Principal, Price Middle School

“Mental illness and mental health struggles are so pervasive that our students need to know there are resources available to support them if the need should arise. NAMI’s ‘Ending the Silence” presentation contains such invaluable resources, and I would highly recommend the presentation to other educators looking to inform and empower their students on the topic of mental health.”

– School Teacher

Ending the Silence is a NAMI-SCC educational presentation for middle and high school students to learn about mental health, mental health conditions, support strategies, local resources, and more. This helps raise awareness and change perceptions around mental health conditions.
