This is a panel with Dr. Rosenberg, Sen. Jim Beall, David Mineta, and one of NAMI-SCC’s Peer Mentors, Allison Murray. They will discuss the issue of housing and the importance of safety-net programs for those struggling with mental health issues.
Meet our four panelists!
Dr. Ken Rosenberg
As a psychologist, Dr. Rosenberg specializes in addiction medicine at Upper East Health.
As a speaker and author, he is recognized on topics related to addiction, infidelity, sexual compulsivity disorder, and mental health activism, Dr. Rosenberg has been featured on NBC and CNN. As a filmmaker, Dr. Rosenberg is a Peabody Award-winning producer and director with six films for HBO and three films for PBS on mental health issues.
“I became a psychiatrist because of my sister, and I became a filmmaker because I wanted to understand and tell our story,” – Dr. Rosenberg, Variety (2019).
Former Senator Jim Beall
Jim Beall’s vision and experience have provided Silicon Valley with 30 years of leadership, making a difference in the lives of working families, seniors, foster care children, and people with disabilities.
Jim learned values like responsibility, hard work, self-reliance, and the importance of giving back to the community to improve peopleʼs lives.
David Mineta
David Mineta’s career has strong roots in Santa Clara County. He earned his master’s degree in social work from San Jose State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He worked for 14 years as the Asian American Recovery Services Deputy Director in the Bay Area. He becomes President and CEO of Momentum for Health.
Allison Murray
Allison has worked with NAMI since 2003 and has been involved in mental health through her work at Hope Services Counseling Center since 2012. She has been active and doing well in her recovery since 2005. For many years, she went undiagnosed and was self-medicating her life’s trauma. Allison is extremely passionate about her wellness, and in sharing it with others through a message of hope and perseverance.
